Live from Batley Variety Club – May 9th 1969 Batley, England – Roy Orbison (1999)
Part. 1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?kmuzgmyimomPart. 2 – http://www.mediafire.com/?vtm1jza2mwm
It’s Roy Orbison, enough said.
Song List:
1. Only The Lonely 2. Crying 3. Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream) 4. Blue Bayou 5. In Dreams 6. Mean Woman Blues 7. My Friend 8. Break My Mind 9. Running Scared 10. Lana 11. When I Stop Dreaming 12. Land Of 1,000 Dances 13. It's Over 14. Money 15. Help Me Rhonda 16. Loving Touch 17. Go,Go,Go (Down The Line) 18. Oh, Pretty Woman
A Guide For The Daylight Hours – Ballboy (2002)
http://www.mediafire.com/?0zyuuomz3ovA Guide for the Daylight Hours, first off, contains some of the best song titles found on any album. Songs like "I Wonder If You're Drunk Enough To Sleep With Me Tonight", "I Lost You, But I found Country Music", "Sex Is Boring", and "All the Records on the Radio Are Shite".
Second, the music is interesting, intriguing, to say the least. Centered around the delivery - the heavy accent and the humorous lyrics that are delivered in a dead pan, serious tone - and backed with a ragged, rough and tumble indie-rock centerpiece, the songs just float, the music hovering behind the vocals, sometimes guiding them, sometimes being guided.

Upstate Songs – Devon Sproule (2003)
http://www.mediafire.com/?yukknkz2yidThis is a high quality album and it might be said to be a more straight forward singer-songwriter effort than her most recent work. The album as a whole is a real grower. Most of the songs are guitar and voice with occasional backing from her husband (Paul Curreri) but 'Should Have Been Snow' features a full band and is surprisingly rock(ish).
Mr. Everything – Chuck Jackson (1965)
http://www.mediafire.com/?oymizmklqkjThe New York-based Scepter /Wand labels recorded some of the finest R&B and soul sides of the 1960s. Their biggest star attraction was, undoubtedly, Dionne Warwick (on Scepter) but Chuck Jackson was up there among the very best of the rest. His rich baritone vocals were the perfect focus for the sophisticated uptown New York soul that became the trademark sound of Wand and he enjoyed huge successes on the R&B charts. Jackson later went on to record for Motown and ABC, but he never reached the heights to which he so effortlessly soared at Wand.

Peel Session 58 – Herman Dune 29.01.03
http://www.mediafire.com/?t0zjmkimri2Recorded: 8.01.03 Transmitted: 29.01.03
Tracklisting: 1. Run like Crazy 2. Dust Off Your Heart 3. What Are You 4. The Neighbours 5. Air Drum To Pavement
The 5th of 7 sessions the band did for John Peel.
Excellent stuff again. Regular readers of this blog may have picked up that I like this band somewhat
Random Harvest – Friends of Dean Martinez (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?du3gtzyni3mThere is something very intriguing about the music on Random Harvest as Friends of Dean Martinez are masters of mood, from the very first note, you are sucked in and can’t stop listening. That’s a good thing, as Random Harvest is best listened to as a whole. There are no singles here, and each of the eight songs seems incomplete without its counterparts. The cover art is the best representation of the music; dark and brooding rock that could easily be the soundtrack for an intimate evening overlooking the vast nothingness of the American southwest

Album 1 – Loudon Wainwright III (1970)
http://www.mediafire.com/?dniwztmdijnAlain commented on Album III post that he had never heard this so here is his chance.
The debut album from Loudon is one of the best of his early work. Wainwright is better when it is just him and his guitar, his songs sound so much starker.
Mink Rat or Rabbit – The Detroit Cobras (1998)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zmymwz0zm0zIn your face, garage rock 'n' soul from Detroit's finest female fronted fuzz-freaks. The vocals are just mind-blowingly powerful. They have skills to choose great songs to cover and do them justice putting a new sheen on it, adding an exciting edge and ultimately making it their own.
Daytrotter Session 5 – Dressy Bessy 1.02.07
http://www.mediafire.com/?jmnzzz1dc0gTracklisting: 1. Electrified 2. Just Once More 3. Who’d Stop The Rain 4. That’s Why

Album III– Loudon Wainwright III (1972)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ytdyzgohzijWith his third album, singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III would employ a full band, fleshing out his folky songs, rocking the rockers, and giving a little bounce to fun ditties like "Dead Skunk." Album III was a push by the record company to make Loudon a 'pop star'. And Loudon was glad to participate, late into his thirties. It starts out with 'Dead Skunk', the witty, popular novelty song that that he will most probably (and regrettably) be remembered for but also check out the brilliant Needless to Say or rockin East Indian Princess. Stands the test of time.
Twin Cinema – The New Pornographers (2005)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2mnddymylyhTwin Cinema is a great pop album from the New Pornographers, a release that's crammed with so many memorable melodies that the bumpier moments fade into the background. In short, it's no Mass Romantic, but it will do quite nicely.

Ask Forgiveness – Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?uzz1h2rceyrAn eight track e.p. consisting of 7 cover versions and 1 original written by Will Oldham. Sinatra, Merle Haggard, Phil Ochs, R. Kelly, Danzig, Bjork and Mickey Newbury are all covered here by Oldham. They bare very little semblance to the originals being so fargone from the original source material as to make them all his own.
Kick Boy Face – Prince Jazzbo (1976)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2ial2fnjjuiWhilst not being viewed as important as other 70’s DJ’s such as U Roy and Big Youth, Prince Jazzbo never failed to deliver with his albums. He was though one of the great deejay's of the seventies and was a fixture on the always competitive Jamaican sound system scene.

Friends of Mine – Adam Green (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ykmjzua4mz5The songs are interesting, beautifully arranged, and delicately sung by Green's child-like baritone. Not everything is good, but the album is pretty consistent throughout.
Re-Up as Requested – Let It Roll – Willard Grant Conspiracy (2006)
http://www.mediafire.com/?lzzmzz1mwzqFrom the gorgeous opening , Distant Shore, a soldier's elagaic lament, to the title track, an epic tale of madness and mayhem, to the beautiful yet haunting Flying Low, the sixth album by the enigmatically named Willard Grant Conspiracy was by far their most accomplished album. Though leader Robert Fischer's influences seem hard to pinpoint, and rather obscure; his visions of a gothic americana almost Faulknerian in its sweep, the music is as accesible as any of the best Americana, or Alt-Country , though those labels don't do justice to the originality of it's conception. I can't recommend Let it Roll any more enthusiastically
Re-Up as Requested – Peel Session 25 – Dead Meadow 29.03.01
http://www.mediafire.com/?15zqzqqjfhnRecorded: 1.1.01, Transmitted: 29.3.01
Tracklisting: 1. Dusty Nothin'. 2, Good Moanin'. 3. Wandering Thunder, 4. Drifting Downstreams
The one and only session that Dead Meadow did for the John Peel Show
Sunday, 24 May 2009
The First Album – Ella Guru (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?eezmmxzki21This is very relaxing alternative country/folk - dark in parts, wonderfully light in others. Every song gets even better with each listen.
Happy Together – The Turtles (1967)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2mtjmmtytynThe Turtles were one of the more enjoyable American pop groups of the 1960s, featuring beautiful vocal harmonies courtesy of dual frontmen Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman. Though the Turtles had appeared to run out of steam by the beginning of 1967, the group stormed back with a song they'd heard in a batch of demos, a surefire hit written by Gary Bonner and Alan Gordon. "Happy Together" spent three weeks at number one on the American charts, and proved to be one of the biggest hits of the year. They released 3 more singles from the album all of which became top 20 hits.

Re-Up as Requested – Peel Session 22 – Soledad Brothers Live at Maida Vale 6.11.02
Part. 1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?jjyixwkmyrqPart. 2 - http://www.mediafire.com/?fzz2imdy25n
A 12 song live set from Maida Vale. The first of three sessions the band would do for the John Peel Show. Excellent stuff !!!
Tracklisting: 1. Mysterious Ways 2. Teenage Heart Attack 3. Break ‘Em Down 4. Rock Me Slow 5. Up Jumped The Devil 6. Johnny’s Death Letter 7. Goin’ Back To Memphis 8. Gospel According To John 9. Cage That Tiger 10. Soledad Brothers 11. Only Flower In My Bed 12. Gimme Back My Wig
Re–Up as Requested - Live At Gold Dollar June 2000 – Soledad Brothers (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ef5vjyywni2At their best, Soledad Brothers recall the Rolling Stones when Mick and Keith were fresh-faced bluesheads in the mid-Sixties: The Soledads kick out solid, harmonica-laced blues riffs without sounding derivative or cheesily nostalgic. Fantastic to see live, grab a beer and a smoke, do yourself a favour and give a listen.
Tracklisting: 1. Stand Up 2. Break Em On Down 3. Johnny's Death Letter 4. Goin' Back To Memphis 5. Teenage Heart Attack 6. Up Jumped The Devil 7. Gospel According To John
Re- Up As Requested - Drill A Hole in That Substrate and Tell Me What You See – Jim White (2004)
Part. 1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?ljtolzzzwngPart. 2 - http://www.mediafire.com/?koyyn2tjhem
If you'll step into the Jim White cult, I think I can reliably assure you --- you'll be in good company, but no one you know will be there. More adventuresome than your standard alt-country cd, this great recording has not a weak track on it. When it comes to his music, classify him unclassifiable. He's the country singer in the obligatory hat, only with a horn section behind him. He's the anti-commercial militant --- a lot of his songs are six minutes long --- who writes trance music you can't get out of your head.
Re- Up As Requested - Sometimes You Hear Through Someone Else – Cranebuilders (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?jmnywtvwvnjThis debut from the UK band Cranebuilders, titled Sometimes You Hear Through Someone Else is a somber and moody affair that bears similarities to acts such as Velvet Underground, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, The Verve, Cowboy Junkies, The Smiths, and The Church.

Singers – Mount Eerie (2005)
http://www.mediafire.com/?t4umyy2mwm0These songs were recorded over a 5 year period in Olympia and Anacortes, Washington, during the in-between times at recording sessions and shows. Whenever there were people with voices gathered Phil Elvrum, said, "Hey I have this extra song! Let s all record it right now without practicing too much!"
Pretty World – Sam Baker (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?nquhem2omgkSam Baker is one of the most unlikely singers ever recorded. His vocals, more spoken than sung, make musicians like Bob Dylan and Tom Waits sound lyrical and melodic. However that's not always a bad thing.
His voice never gets in the way of the music or the story he's telling. Add the sound of his voice to his singular odd pronunciation and you have a very original artist. There isn't a single bad tune on the album

Down With Wilco - The Minus 5 - Missing Track
It appears that I made a cock when uploading Down With Wilco. Namely I missed off the final track. Also someone has said they had trouble extracting Track 3. So deepest apologies, I put it down to age and having reached 50. I now have to double check all doors are locked, I forget where I have put my keys, I appreciate gigs finishing at 11.00pm and have the urge to go for a pee when I am actually having a pee.

Everything’s Fine – Willard Grant Conspiracy (2000)
http://www.mediafire.com/?wznytnmzik5'Everthing's Fine' is a glorious collection of songs which will have you hooked from the first play. This is truly emotive stuff, tales of love and alienation told with a quiet power, Robert Fisher’s deep soulful voice just sucks you in and won’t let you go.
Daytrotter Session 4 – Centro-Matic 24.09.08
http://www.mediafire.com/?tmgwzzlxz23Tracklisting; 1. Counting the Stars 2. Gas Blowin’ Out Of Our Eyes 3. Nothin’ I Have Ever Seen 4. I, the Kite 5. Good as Gold 6. Quality Strange

The Pirate’s Gospel – Alela Diane (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?z2khqe2ogmdNot an album to cheer you up but excellent nonetheless. If you wish to become morose this is the one for you. Alela Diane plays guitar and sings her own songs in an American folk / country / blues style.
The Sound of ’65 – Graham Bond Organisation (1965)
http://www.mediafire.com/?imijk4vu34hThe band is renowned for half its membership being Jack Bruce (Bass and Harmonica) and Ginger Baker (drums), both to unite with Eric Clapton later and create Cream. Dick Heckstall-Smith was a superb blues/jazz saxophonist and whilst Graham Bond’s vocals may be raw but they work wonderfully within the fusion of rock/jazz/blues. Totally underappreciated early R&B jazz sound.

Peel Session 57 – Loudon Wainwright III 16.07.02
http://www.mediafire.com/?2nz2ydyqgnzRecorded: 21.04.02 Transmitted: 16.07.02
Tracklisting: 1. Half Fist, 2. Heaven, 3. No Sure Way, 4. Something for Nothing, 5.The Final Frontier
The 14th of 15 sessions that Wainwright did for Peel dating back to 1971.
Down With Wilco – The Minus 5 (2003)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zaj3exzmdmxThe Minus 5 is basically Scott McCoughey. And in addition to several other guys, the main people backing him are four members of Wilco, including Jeff Tweedy. They put together delightful arrangements with endless little sound surprises, and though the second half of the album doesn't quite match the strength of the first, it remains an extraordinarily interesting album for all 13 tracks.

Star In The Ghetto – Barrington Spence (1982)
http://www.mediafire.com/?hna3mmdjwitA nice little roots, lover’s rock album. Not know anything about this guy, but do like this.
Creatures – Elf Power (2002)
http://www.mediafire.com/?gn1mmyinjxjMixing old psychedelia with contemporary indie rock, Elf Power not only create interesting music but very catchy and fun songs. The lyrics are dark and trippy yet the music leaves you feeling upbeat. A vastly underrated band.

Axxess and Ace – Songs:Ohia (1999)
http://www.mediafire.com/?5n4wuymhchwThere is a refreshing sound in the melancholy of this album. It is not apathy, but a moving relentless erosion of ones angst. A fatal acceptance of what may be inevitable cloaked behind the melodic drone of amplified acoustic guitar. And a searching set of lyrics that just add to the bitterness.
Mr. Wonderful – Fleetwood Mac (1968)
http://www.mediafire.com/?hymdyimzmwxCritics and fans alike bashed and underrated this album, the follow up to the first of the original Fleetwood Mac's self-titled debut. But in interviews Peter Green has stated the purpose of the album was to recreate the sound of a south side Chicago blues club. Raw and rough, the album does just that. Fantastic guitar with some great off-color lyrics too, the horns are sloppy and perfect for the songs done on this album.

Live At Leeds ‘71 – Groundhogs (1998)
http://www.mediafire.com/?tyzfmxzw45zLive at Leeds was recorded when the band was on tour opening for the Rolling Stones in 1971. This is a short but potent snapshot of the classic Groundhogs line-up of Tony McPhee (guitar/vocals), Pete Cruickshank (bass) and Ken Pustelnik (drums) rocking like a motherfucker in front of a bunch of Stones fans. The album finds the band playing 3 songs from their then newest LP, “Split”, and 2 more from their previous one, “Thank Christ for the Bomb”. Opening with “Cherry Red”, arguably the bands finest bit of studio glory, the band starts out strong and only gets better as the show progresses. Live at Leeds is a superb example of how great the trio of McPhee, Cruickshank and Pustelnik really were, and it shows them at their peak as a band: energetic, loud-as-fuck and full of fire and purpose.
Night of a Thousand Candles – The Men They Couldn’t Hang (1985)
http://www.mediafire.com/?cyunb4ytdztIf you like punk, folk, country, skiffle then give this a listen. The early mid-80's were a great time to be young and British, a vibrant sub-culture that was avowedly anti-Thatcher, a vast number new-wave inspired music genre's fusing and this album catches the time wonderfully
Anti-War sentiments abound (The UK had just won the Falklands War and the Iron Lady had called an election early to capitalise on the victory), the 80's depression was starting to bite and Heroin culture was emerging and thus there are many references about unemployment, drug taking and having to move elsewhere to find work

Late Night Blues – Al Campbell (1980)
http://www.mediafire.com/?jytjuznxd0wCampbell's recording of "Late Night Blues" became a staple of blues parties. Backed by the obligatory Sly and Robbie amongst others, Al Campbell delivers a cracking dancehall album
Limbeck – Limbeck (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ygmzwmilxilThis Californian four-piece gives light-hearted, but heartfelt country riffs and indie lyrics. The band’s popish, toetapping beats, bluesy guitar solos and mellow, transcendent vocals are hard to ignore. Coupled with their ability to successfully experiment with their songwriting while still creating a sound that comes across as soulfully simple and brings a smile to your face.

There was a comment that Pain In My Heart had gone, checked it and it is still there. Other requests for Re-Ups will be dealt with shortly. Also when requesting re-ups a please and thank wouldn't go amiss, it only takes a minute, it doesn't cost anything. Good manners in this world sadly seem to be a thing of the past. Please pander to the whims of a sensitive soul. Thank You.
Jerusalem – Steve Earle (2002)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zdzie2fzfmmSteve Earle wears his politics right out there for everyone to see on this album. This is Earle at his sparest, the charge of sparseness is justified, lyrically this album makes its points in the most direct and simple way possible.
Peel Session 56 – Pigbros 21.08.85
http://www.mediafire.com/?j2qknjnm2inRecorded: 11.08.85 Transmitted: 21.08.85
Tracklisting: 1. Cheap Life 2. Hedonist Hat 3. Lick Bones 4. War Food
The first of two sessions the band did.

Moonbabies At The Ballroom – The Moonbabies (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?jktzxwuitwnThis album is one that takes you on a journey through musical styles, never resting on its laurels long enough for you to get bored. Mixing up catchy hook laden pop "War On Sound" through blissed out walls of orchestration "Cocobelle", indie guitars picks on "Ratatouille" and Sixties beats on "Shout It Out". Couple of duff tracks on the album but overall a decent listen.

Daytrotter Session 3 – J. Tillman (sxsw session) 8.05.09
http://www.mediafire.com/?nmlrz5gidtwTracklisting: 1. No Occasion, 2. Master’s House, 3. When I Light Your Darkened Door, 4. Vessels
Boundary County – Eileen Jewell (2006)
http://www.mediafire.com/?mgycozng1wuEilen Jewell’s ‘Boundary County’ is a collection of 13 songs that mix country, folk and blues into an album of memorable and authentic Americana. You really should give this a listen.

Re- Up As Requested
Africa Shall Stretch Forth Her Hand – The Mighty Threes (1979)http://www.mediafire.com/?jmmdm3zfz4y
Don't know anything about this group, just know it is a cracking album of roots and beautiful harmonies from 1979. There is a re-released album with bonus tracks of dub versions of the original. If anyone has that dub album......
Bo Diddley’s Beach Party – Bo Diddley (1963)
http://www.mediafire.com/?rfnzzmmigydRecorded live in concert in July 1963 at the Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina it is one of rock music's earliest live remote recordings. A blistering live album, this is some of the loudest, raunchiest guitar-based rock & roll ever preserved. If "Bo Diddley's Beach Party" wasn't the first garage-rock album, I'd like to know what was! The sound doesn't necessarily translate ideally to cd, but that shouldn't dissuade anyone.
People Are Different – Wooden Stars (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?m1dltw2zwijMore rock-oriented and less quirky than their earliest work, the quartet’s latter-day material still challenges pop song conventions with gutsy arrangements and unique lyricism. The challenging post-punk edges of People are Different don’t diminish its accessibility. A solid record.
Sunday, 10 May 2009
Grin and Bear It – The Ruts (1980)
http://www.mediafire.com/?wyznym0iojjGrin & Bear It is the Ruts’ 1980 second album and features a compilation of singles, B-sides and live performances recorded at London’s famous Marquee Club. The Ruts were, without a doubt the best, and most overlooked punk band to come from the late 70's explosion. They were more street than Sham 69, more reggae/dubwise than The Clash, and easily the most talented of all the first wave punk bands. A ramshackle affair released after the death of front man Malcolm Owen. -- the Ruts deserved far more. However, Grin and Bear It lines up alongside their debut album, the rest of the Peel sessions, and assorted live recordings to remind listeners that, though the Ruts never came close to fulfilling their promise, the promise itself was spellbinding.
My Funny Valentine – Chet Baker (1994)
http://www.mediafire.com/?z2m2rk0rjdnCompiled from several different collections recorded from 1953 to 1956, Baker's voice is so pure, so vulnerable and sweet. His singing style, even in the 50's, points back to a much earlier era, to the Crosby/Sinatra romantic and sad Saloon Songs of the 30's and 40's His trumpet playing as usual is top class, a smooth, easy listening album.

Promo - Satnam's Tash (2009)
http://www.mediafire.com/?togimj1cygzPicked this up off the bar in a pub opposite work the other day. On the cd is printed Please Upload, Copy and Share this Cd. Always happy to oblige. On their My Space site they describe themselves as Indie/Rock/Punk Music. I have played it once...I probably won't play it again. But even though I was not bowled over by it I am happy to help a local band in their request and someone out their may like it more than me.
At Rear House – Woods (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?mldgflmvynmWoods play a blend of dark edgy, scuzzy, lo- fi folk with wiry hooks and timber drums. These are memorable songs, beautiful and delicate at times and noisy and unpredictable at others.
River – Terry Reid (1973)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2yumojwnqqzA low key recording but soulful and worth the investment. One of those 'just get it you'll really like it' albums. Singling out individual tracks is an exercise in futility in that River is gloriously whole. Part homage to Van Morrison, it's a blissful roller coaster of plangent folk blues
Friday, 8 May 2009
Los Valientes Del Mundo Nuevo – Black Lips (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?wjlm4lq0nozThis twelve-song sonic apocalypse -- recorded live, as the story goes, at a mariachi club in Tijuana. The band's dirty, primitive take on blues-infused garage rock sounds fine indeed. The sound quality alternates between awful and pretty good, along with the production, which is archaic, as usual. But still, they deliver.
Blue Earth – The Jayhawks (1989)
http://www.mediafire.com/?moywjowddzkNot many bands were making music like this in 1989. Gary Louris and Mark Olson’s harmonies would improve on the next of couple albums but don`t sound bad here at all. It's not their most polished album but Blue Earth is a simple, pure enjoyment.
Thursday, 7 May 2009
Carbon Glacier – Laura Veirs (2004)
http://www.mediafire.com/?gjnkdzgjin1It’s an ambient record, in many ways. The mood of glacial calm rarely lets up, but after a couple of listens it will have become quite intoxicating. Standout tracks: solemn banjo-driven ballad “Icebound Stream” and creepy instrumental “Blackened Anchor”. Banjo, glockenspiel, piano, vibraphonette, trombone, guitars and all manner of percussion, the songs here lull you in with their immense simplicity and unerring beauty, regardless of the subject matter at hand.
Elvis Belt – Cud (1990)
http://www.mediafire.com/?yzdqwngkz5wFormed in Leeds in 1986, CUD went on to forge one of the more interesting and indefinable sounds of the late 80s / early 90s indie scene. Fusing a catchy pop sensibility with danceable grooves and intelligent and often humorous lyrics, they soon became firm independent favourites
Three quality singles into their career, the band secured a deal with Imaginary Records, where they continued a fine run of singles and eventually released their debut album. Capitalising on the bands underground success, in June 1990 Imaginary followed this with this compilation of their early releases, topping several independent charts in the process.
Wednesday, 6 May 2009
Run To Ruin – Nina Nastasia (2003)

Somber, more subdued than her earlier efforts, Run to Ruin has Nastasia exploring dark subjects like drugs and devotion, the abuse of both. She chooses her words and uses them in a careful manner and what was already minimal in instrumentation evident in the Blackened Air are made even more so here. Creepy, dark and still, with the same wicked sense of irony.
Peel Session 55 – Fini Tribe 22.05.85
http://www.mediafire.com/?qmtdczt32mqRecorded: 12.05.85 Transmitted: 22.05.85
Tracklisting: 1. Goose Duplicates 2. An Evening With Clavichords 3. We're Interested
4. Splash Care
Scottish dance music unit, who shared the same One Little Indian Records label as their fellow countrymen the Shamen, but failed to replicate their success. It was not through want of effort, or, for that matter, talent. The band took their name from "Finny Tribe", a name given to the entire fish species by Irish religious sect the Rosicrucians, as well as by the common people of that country.

Sailin’ Shoes – Little Feat (1972)
http://www.mediafire.com/?mwomenymzjoJust one hell of a really fun rock n roll album. Really great lyrics. Really great licks. A superb mix of blues, rock, gospel and bundled up into Lowell George.
Black Dots – Bad Brains (1996)
http://www.mediafire.com/?f1owzzmyzd4A live demo recorded in 1979; this is Bad Brains slamming through a full set list of top notch hardcore punk of a quality that has scarcely been achieved by anyone. It has all of the same energy & drive that you would expect from them.
Monday, 4 May 2009
The Tony Bennett and Bill Evans Album – Tony Bennett and Bill Evans (1975)
http://www.mediafire.com/?mywezoq0jddA gem from 1975, two masters of the delicate art of phrasing are captured forever on this masterpiece. Both Tony Bennett and Bill Evans complement each other: the former breathing new meaning into each song, the latter taking on that meaning and leading it to new heights with his fantastic solos.
Daytrotter Session 2 – The Felice Brothers 25.08.08
http://www.mediafire.com/?jkxneztljj0Tracklisting: 1. Marlboro Man, 2. Chicken Wire, 3. Hey Hey Revolver, 4. The Devil Is Real
Sunday, 3 May 2009
New Seasons – The Sadies (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zhwywnyj3ohA Sadies album never lets you down and this is no exception. New Seasons seems to find the band being a bit more contemplative. It is also noticeable the reduction of instrumentals on this album. Usually a Sadies album is made up of 50% of them, on this there is only three. Lyrically the band is on top form, the mood being dissolute turning almost suicidal on "Sunset to Dawn.".
Poor and Humble – Wayne Wade (1982)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ymykxwlzzngA nice little dancehall album. Although it doesn’t quite match up to Wade’s debut Black Is Our Colour, it is still more than pleasurable on the ears.

Hey Harmony – St. Thomas (2003)

The Salvation Blues – Mark Olson (2007)
http://www.mediafire.com/?djjzgiodml5Nice, smooth and easy on the ear; okay it may not match up to the pure class of The Jayhawks but Olson still has a voice that can hit you right in the face.

May Day
May 1st, International Workers' Day, wherever you are in the world fraternal greetings. 'Workers of the World Unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains'
Kinky - Hoodoo Gurus (1991)
http://www.mediafire.com/?hduzzdi1mklPerhaps not as memorable as their earlier stuff, but this is still good plain ole rock 'n' roll, fun with catchy lyrics.
Last Sessions – Mississippi John Hurt (1972)
http://www.mediafire.com/?lqnjjmjmnm4Last Sessions showed that Hurt's voice, songwriting skills, and guitar playing remained uncorrupted by a lifetime of hard work, sounding as vibrant as anything that the bluesman had ever recorded. This album has to be one of the most peaceful I have ever heard, fantastic stuff.
